Hi there

I have a four group lever Visacrem got it second hand did some basic repairs and it was working beautifully. however we recently moved house and when we unpacked it the machine would no longer auto fill. Any ideas?
The manual fill still works but it seems like it cant tell when the water level drops below a certain level. Any help would be much appreciated.

Cheers

Wire off the water level sensor? Start simple and look for slightly loose connections... then think complicated

It sounds like an amazing home machine! My god man a Four group lever machine, You win the Elephant Gun award for sure. Post a Picture please, did you move into a castle?

It may have something to do with the new locations H20 pressure but I would start with the level sensors wiring as Mo suggested.

Here is a fitting Icon for you

Checked the water level sensor already. Checked for calcium buildup too but it was clean as a whistle and connected to the boiler right. This was my first thought and unless its with the wiring, which seems unlikely Im still stuck. The mains pressure is fine its definitely something in the machine thats playing up. Normally a fill light would come on and the valve would click open and let the water in, but its lifeless.......
I'll post some pics later too. She's a beauty
Any other ideas?

All naked PF and machined steam tips for better performance. The flow restrictors are set as to deliver perfect ( or very near to it) temperature consistantcy. The Brass cup rack on the top I made from some nice brass pipes I had. I'm ral proud of her and use it all the time, and anything not performing as it should drives me CRAZY! :?

Beautiful machine.

The water-level sensor works like this: If there is water, there will be continuity between the autofill probe and the boiler/ground. Not much--somewhere in the 100s of kohms if I remember. If there is no water, it will be an open circuit, zero continuity. So if you disconnect the autofill probe entirely, it should fill endlessly.

So it could be a wiring problem. Autofill wire shorted to ground somehow, or a wire going to the autofill box or the solenoid could be loose. Check for voltage on the solenoid and the autofill box. Does the solenoid click or hum? If so, something is blocked in the plumbing. That's where I'd start. New solenoids or autofill boxes are pricey, but I've had luck on the coffeegeek for sale board getting them.

The machine is quiet. it used to click to open the valve but its not now. Taking the water level probe out doesn't do anything.
Everything looks fine, all the wires are properly insulated and everything looks as it should. Any ideas? any help would be much appreciated.

You need to use a multimeter and check if the autofill box and the solenoid are getting voltage. (And be careful around electricity!) That should tell you about where your problem is. It could still be a loose connection somewhere. Your machine got jostled around on the road and things can loosen.

There seems to be some voltage going to the solenoid the readings are fluctuating though. Where do i check the voltage on the autofill box?
