As mentioned above, for an Americano or a cup of tea. It's also useful for periodically drawing water from the boiler to reduce scaling. Or as a source of scalding hot water to wet a cleaning cloth or to preheat a soup bowl, etc.

...or to make Jello, or Ramen, or start pasta or clean rages, or start cocoa, you name it.
Mine has a fourteen liter boiler, so I usually have ten to twelve liters on tap, so I use it for anything that I'd use boiling water for, especially if I don't want to wait for the microwave.

Or to rinse the P/F & basket after you dump the puck.

I shake my head often and I can't pass by.
How about - for hot water, do with it what you want, will or otherwise.

This is a false statement.

If you leave water in the boiler, whatever minerals are in there will scale out.
Adding new water means adding new minerals and new scale.

Keeping stagnant water - although it doesn't seem at first to be a good idea, will actually keep your scale down.
