Wega has a boiling sound

Postby Brana on Sat Mar 28, 2009 2:02 pm

We just got new Wega mini and and turned it on. I was surprised to hear a boiling sound from the inside. Our previous machines (with inside water tanks and pump) were more quiet when they were on standby. Is it normal or is there a problem? Also I'm playing with 5 hole steam wand and thinking of giving up to go for one hole instead that i had success with before.

Not too surprising; afterall, it is a steam boiler.

I notice you say "new" Wega mini so if this is actually a brand new machine then this will not apply. However if the machine is new to you then it may. I owned a Wega Mini for six years and I noticed that when it got close to time to descale the machine the sounds of the heating cycle became more pronounced. This was when the machine was idling. If your machine is used you might want to check and see if a descaling is in order.
