Weak backflush anything to worry about?

Postby Philg on Mon May 11, 2009 12:23 pm

Hello,

It seems my Alexia is backflushing "weaker" a smaller amount of water comes out with less force than it used to. Is this anything to worry about? Is there something I should check or do? Just wondering if it's a sign that something might be going wrong. Far as I can tell, the machine is working fine.

Thanks.

My Vetrano seems to be variable in the force of the backflush. I recently noted that if I remove the PF and dump out any remaining water between backflushes the power is stronger. I have no idea of the significance of this.

Thanks Scott,

I noticed some variation too - when I do a chemical backflush the first is stronger, then they get weaker. I don't know if it's just that I get impatient (shorter flush) or the pressure changes. Now it seems that even a relatively long flush is weaker than before.

I notice that my first backflush in a series of 4-5 is always the most forceful. I attributed that to it being at a higher temperature than the subsequent shots, since I don't let the boiler come back to temperature. Another possiblity is that there is a blockage in the vent line.

Thanks Eric, I'll check the vent line. Thanks also to whoever improved the topic title.
