Water quality -plumb in options

Postby Bkeef on Sun Mar 27, 2011 2:31 pm

Im looking to plumb in a new machine. I've been pour over ala Brita for a while. I used an inexpensive test strip and it appears my hardness is about 3-5 grains. (50 ppm). According to the chart.

First question. If that's accurate that's the target from what I understand. Do I plumb up straight ?

If I do plumb up it would need to be something compact and easy to service. Everpure Claris looks good from posts. I know enough to be dangerous so I thought i would ask others for input.

Thanks
Brian

That does sound like pretty good water. You might want to place a carbon filter inline, if not for taste but also to act as a particle filter.

I am in the same boat, about to plumb a machine in, and am probably going to go with the system that Chris Coffee sells which is a softener (cat-ion) and carbon 10" filters.

If you want to use a flo-jet, could you use a filter and just use your tap water in the water bottle instead of buying bottled water all the time?
