Vetrano drip tray leaks

Postby steveschoon on Tue Jan 12, 2010 10:54 pm

My Vetrano drip tray has sprung a leak in one of the corners, and I'm trying to decide how to repair. Considering some silicone caulking, or possibly taking to a metal shop and having it re-welded. Open to other ideas...

Caulk is probably fine, but may not last for a LONG time. Seems like it's susceptible to losing its adhesion due to mold if it's not well-maintained. Getting it re-welded is certainly a solution you can't go wrong with, but I think I'd try some epoxy first.

JB Weld. But take a look at it's Material safety listing first.

Not that it should matter for the drip tray, but their water weld product is NSF rated for potable water IIRC.

Should not cost much of anything to have it welded. My acetylene tank is empty or I would offer to hit it with a brazing rod to seal it up. It would take all of 5 min. JB weld be be my #2 pick.

Just looping back to say the the JB Weld worked great and I back to leak-free status. Thanks everyone.
