Used La Pavoni Pub V - Knobs and Help

Postby theshawfamily5 on Sun Aug 21, 2011 12:47 pm

Just purchased a working Pub V... older model with external pump.
There appears to be no manuals around for this model. S/N 16207
I've sent 3 messages to LaPavoni with no response.

There is a knob on the bottom... very floppy and the shield is gone...

If you are talking about the "knob" on the drip tray, I believe that is the Manual Fill knob for the boiler.

A friend of mine just purchasde 2 of these machines, one same as that, and another newer, he has been researching also. Some links which may interest you, but you will need translation for the first two:

That's in fact the manual fill valve. It should push in to fill the boiler.

Here's another good link.

You'll find any parts you might need here at Cafe Parts.

awesome help.
I looked online and found the push!!! button...
It appears that the push button also can be turned... like a valve... I assume you can adjust the flow? If you turn it "clockwise - off" it comes to a stop.

I pulled the sides off and have them ready to paint....
I removed the relief and looked inside. It appears no scale..and the element looks brand new, and the solenoid up top looks brand new.

Can i just pour preheated water + descaler in the unit and let it soak... and then just pour it out? and rinse a couple of times... or do I need to pull the heating element?

Also.. it has 2 drain lines underneath.. how much drain will come from these?...Can I put a collection jug under my unit...or is it gallons?

Any other maintenance I need to do prior to putting it together, and giving it a 1st run?

Turning this shaft disassembles the valve and does not adjust the flow of water. Turn the shaft clockwise and then stop turning it.

You can, but keep in mind this does nothing to treat the inside of the heat exchanger (the water inside the heat exchanger and boiler ARE separate and do not intermingle) Such a thing would be useful for removing a burnt milk residue but not a lime scale issue.

There should be two silicon lines going into the plastic drain cup. One is from the expansion valve the other from the cup tray. There is almost never a discharge from the cup tray. However WHEN the expansion valve goes bad, it can pass quite a bit of water, overflowing even a 5 gallon bucket overnight. A correctly adjusted expansion valve passes about one drop of water every 5 seconds. At least that's what the folks at Crossroads told me back in '89

I assume you did the PF seal and screen already? Took me three hours the first time I did one. Have fun with that. Backflush? Any leaks out of the steam or water valve? Expansion valve?

Good little machine. I installed a few of those.
