I knew the answer was yes, but wondered why. From the CEME website:

Evidently the EAX5 is another class of pump than the EX5, but it's of no consequence since the EX5's higher duty rating (2 minutes on/1 minute off) doesn't matter for espresso. The X means it has brass fittings (P = plastic).

What's your rated frequency in there??
Voltage, and Hz should be considered..

In here ROK(rated frequency 220V,60Hz), ULKA EX5(230V, 50Hz) doesn't work well(Can't make enough extraction pressure)
So, It changed to ULKA EAX5(220V, 60Hz). Now, pump works perfectly.

Most of all, check the rated frequency. And find suitable EAX5 model. That's all. :)

Good point Devin! A good reference is Wikipedia's Table of mains voltages and frequencies by country.

Strange that here we have 220V/60Hz too, and the Elektra Semi with the 230V/50Hz pump works fine. The max pressure is around 12-13 bar...

I have to compare both pumps (it's easy to find the 220V/60Hz here) some day.

Carneiro-

Yes, you right in certain case.

Here some test
.
Feed variable input voltage and Hz to 2 pumps.
With needle valve, extraction pressure was made at 9bar. And measured flow-rate.

IMHO, in real world, there is some difference real voltage and rated voltage.
In some tests with two different Hz environment above, pumps are very sensitive with Voltage change.

Maybe ULKA EX5(230V, 50HZ) does work well in real voltage over 220v(60Hz).
But pumps show bad condition under 220v(e.g 210V).
