I'll try to be brief, looking to start backflushing my gaggia classic. Having some trouble finding a backflush disc. My research on here shows gaggia doesn't make a specific one. I'm also having trouble finding a generic 58mm disc or rubber insert. MY IDEA/QUESTION is, since I don't use the pressurized perfect crema basket, I was thinking about turning it into a backflush basket. I was planning on soldering in the tiny hole. Any opinions or advice would be great. What are you guys thinking? I'm of the opinion it be cheaper and might work. Anyone else ever do this or am I in outer space?

How about coating the inside of the basket with JB Weld?

Or, just buy this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/2513154443 ... =82&chn=ps

I would avoid soldering anything coming into contact with food or drink.

Try contacting the following retailers. Either of them should be able to help you. WLL sells a lot of Gaggia machines, And Espressoparts sells just about everything:

I've made a few by drilling the hole if necessary, tapping it, and placing a small hex plug in it with a bit of Teflon tape. You can get SS plugs for hex, slot, Phillips, star drive etc from Amazon and most good industrial hardware suppliers.

Lead free solder or maybe some 45 percent braze. I like some of the responses and Thankyou. The last one was good but I'd have to buy that stuff when I have all braze n solder materials.

Most water pipes in the home are soldered together..hence the lead free for the past 20 years.

Or cut a rubber jar gripper to size; you can get them just about anywhere.
