It appears that the only way to get a triple basket for the Vivaldi II (one that fits normally & without modifying the bottomless pf) is to have them custom fabricated. Before I start looking down that avenue, I wanted to confirm that I haven't missed anything. If you know of a source, please let me know.

Edited for clarity - thanks JohnB! :D

Plenty of info on this in the Triple Baskets section of the S1 Forum but the Dalla Corte triple basket will work after a few mods to your bottomless portafilter. Unfortunately they've been on back order at Espressoparts for months so finding one can be a problem. I bought two from the U.S. DC importer a year ago but that may no longer be an option. The La San Marco 21gram basket is another option but also can be tough to find.

Thanks, do you have a link? I must be blind or a bad searcher, last I checked I only found the custom fabrication thread.

Thanks - I realize my first post was probably vague. This is the kind of information I did find but should have referenced (using a die grinder on a portafilter, baskets that aren't quite a good fit). I'll edit the initial post. Sorry for putting you to the trouble. :)

Any triple basket that fits the stock L/S bottomless p/f without having to open the bottom isn't worth buying IMO. Look at the pics in the original triple basket thread. That original custom basket that sold for $50 is only slightly deeper then the stock double so why bother?

Very interesting! Looks like I need to find someone local who can work on the PF. Thanks John.

John was kind enough to sell me one of his Dalla Corte triple baskets. However, after using it for awhile I came to the conclusion that the stock double basket was all I needed. However, I know some of you are simply dying to get one, so I'll be posting my Dalla Corte triple, with a modified bottomless pf, over on the S1 Cafe Swap Board today.

Excellent, I will check it out.

My main reason for wanting one is that the Counter Culture brewing parameters (for the blends I like) all specify 19+ g I haven't been able to pack that much into my double and get good results. Maybe I am Doing It Wrong. :)

They use a La Marzocco FB-80 in their espresso lab; unlike many espresso machines, it responds favorably to updosing. For the La Spaziale, I expect you'll come to the same conclusion as Keith that a triple offers no advantage over the stock double.

Thanks, Dan. I will learn to stop worrying about the dosing suggestions.

I, like other Vivaldi owners, have found the Triple basket to be something to play with a couple times, and then toss back in the drawer.

Im able to fit 18grams in the double basket, and some coffees, 19grams, without hitting the bolt when locking in. For the past few weeks, thats how Ive been dosing(and buying coffees that do well as such), with good results. Of course, your mileage may vary... and in this case, I wouldn't be surprised. Most people find ~16grams is the sweet spot. And yet again, one of the longer standing members on the S1 board, Niko, is a big fan of using the Triple basket, dosing 20grams, pulling things on the tight side. My suggestion, start out where most people suggest, and then adjust from there, IF you feel the need to change anything.

I've played around with dosing on my Mini and would say that most coffees taste best at 15.5-16 grams. Above that, seem to lose clarity. Haven't felt I needed a triple basket. Michael

I'm afraid this triple looks just like La Spaziale double. We would need to know the size to be certain.

The 18g LSM basket won't give you anything you don't already have. You need to find a 21g LSM basket.

I have a triple for my S1VII that Lino made a few years ago. Although much of the coffee I push through the S1 didn't take to the triple all that well (especially the SOs) I will tell you that a tight pull of 21 gr of Counter Culture Coffee Toscano is pure heaven. If you've ever had chocolate lava cake then you know what I'm talking about. Not something I'd drink every day and frankly it burns through a heck of a lot of coffee but - pure enjoyment on a late Saturday night before bedtime :-)

Cheers

Ian

I think this has been asked before, but I can't remember/find the answer. Is the mypressi basket any bigger than the LS double? Would that fit the bill?

So has anyone tried the new triple basket that Chris is offering? I saw the link in the marketplace forum and also on his website. New basket will not fit old bottomless, so you have to buy a new handle as well. Wanted to see if anyone had tried it yet before I took the plunge on a whole new handle. Also, for anyone who has tried it, I assume the stock double backets still work in the new bottomless?
