Both the La Spaz and the DC have a "thinner" dispersion block option. As with the triple, the thinner dispersion block seems like a design afterthought. That's my theory, anyway, and after many trials, I returned to the as-shipped thicker block.

I might be more interested in larger doses or up-dosing (not the same thing :) ) if I weren't a home barista but a shop barista instead. I don't mind the somewhat rare sink shot, but I'm not about to start out each day pulling several shots to dial in each new day of rest and climate and each time I change a blend or SO. I get the point of up- and down-dosing and head space----notice how these can change the character of the shot. But it seems like general rules or practice as applied to these variables, even when established to be reliable for a particular roast, are not a productive variable, and just makes the optimal shot needlessly difficult. Makes more sense to me to skip the triple and go straight for the quadruple (pull a second double while drinking the first. :D)
