"Thunk", "Pop" when steaming...

Postby homac on Sat Sep 17, 2011 5:10 pm

Not sure if this is an issue, however thought it would be worth posting a question for those familiar with Espresso machine issues.

Have a Quick Mill Alexia and have noticed sometimes I hear a thunk or pop which seems to be coming from the boiler only when steaming. No issues any other time and only hear the noise while actually in the process of steaming milk.

I do not notice any steam (other than from the steam wand), nor any water leaking or any reduction in performance. Is the water just doing something funny in the boiler perhaps?

I have a PID and the boiler temperature seems to be 120C (250F).

The Pstat was never removed when the PID went in, and it's clicking?

Thank-you Jim. I was able to confirm the PID was installed correctly.

Not a click more than a low sounding thunk or pop. It really sounds like it is coming from right inside the boiler and only occurs when steaming.

Possible to take a video where you can hear the sound and post it?

I cannot take a video, however it seems to be coming from the boiler itself.
