That's interesting, because with no coffee in the PF, 4 oz comes out of mine and with coffee, about 2. Sometimes, if I grind too tight, I might only get 1-1.5 oz.

My bad, I measured with two different receptacles!

I just ran another blank shot into the same graduated shot glass I measured the coffee shot in earlier and it measured closer to 3 oz., while the coffee shot measured a bit over 2 oz. including crema. It makes sense, the coffee is going to retain some water.

Interesting that your puck retains 2 oz. while mine holds @ 1/2 as much, are your pucks soggy or dry?

Now I have to figure out what exactly the 2 oz line on my measuring cup is!

I fine that about 3oz or a little less is required for a typical double (16-18g). 4oz does sound a little high.

Sorry I didn't jump in earlier but I have been in the field for the last week. I have my double button set up for two ounces (with a full pf and measured at the top of the crema). What I found worked best after a long idle period was to pull a double (empty pf), wait for the temp to come back up and pull a second, wait for the temp to come back up and pull the real shot ...
