Tearing apart your E61 espresso machine - FAQ

Postby johnds2 on Thu Feb 04, 2010 3:02 am

Is there one?

I have been looking, unsuccessfully. Does such a resource exist?... mainly interested in an E61 tear up, or down, not picky which.

There's lots of threads on rebuilding machines, using the search utility will find them. None are particularly complete, but all get into the guts of the machines, including a few E61s. If you are looking for something more specific, for instance, a tear down of the group itself, it would help to post this, since someone will probably be able to give a specific link.

The Espresso Machines FAQ lists a number of threads under E61. For a practical step-by-step guide, see Coffeetime's The E61 group (demystified, disassembled and detailed) (subscription required).

I provided you a link to coffeetime's excellent reference in your prior thread entitled "I messed up my E61's 3-way valve".

Thanks all, I'm interested in the whole shebang, not just the group head.

Problems with my machine include
1. Won't hold vacuum (must run pump for 30 seconds after resting for 10 min.)
2. Weak pump / clogged arteries or the like
3. 3 way valve hosed
4. Lever doesn't click when moved (related to 3.)
5. Other stuff

It's a 3 year old Anita and I'm just too cheap to buy new. I have ordered a new pump and I am going to try to take it apart and mess around (break something new) next week.

That's a list! Have you cleaned machine on regular basis and used proper water?

If you did, then this really poorly reflects on quality of the product...
