Still Cursed! La Spaziale Vivaldi Won't Power On

Postby dialydose on Fri Aug 13, 2010 7:01 pm

So, this is a follow up to my previous post below where I had issues with my new Vivaldi. As I stated, Chris Coffee was great and they shipped a new machine. The new machine arrived today. I opened it up, went through the normal checks to start, hooked up the water line, plugged in the machine and... nothing. No lights come on, can't turn on the power, nothing. I tried the outlet, tried it without the surge protector (in case it was the surge protector), tried different outlets, nothing. Not a single light. I called the emergency service line and left a message (this was after 5) but have not heard back yet.

Is there anything I should be checking before I take apart (another) brand new machine? Nothing seems out of place. This is from the brand new batch that just arrived from Italy. Starting to lose faith here quickly.

I can only say that my machine was the exactly the opposite experience; plumbed it in, plugged it in and away I went on 3 plus years of happy use.

Check to be sure that the switch is set correctly for 15 or 20 amps.

Check to be sure that the timer switch is set correctly (on if you have a timer, off if you don't).

Otherwise I have no suggestions but to keep trying to reach the folks at Chris' Coffee. They always returned my queries even over the weekend or at night.

Good luck,
Mark

I got a call back from Jason at Chris's. He walked me through a few things to check and we are now cooking with gas! One of the wires on the fuse plug had come off during shipping. Of course this required removing every panel, but luckily it simply involved reconnecting the wire. Everything seems to be in order now. Even pulled shot--which reminded me why I loved this machine in the first place! I have not had fun pulling apart two brand new machines, but I will again state that Chris Coffee may have the best customer service I have ever experienced. Hopefully I can now sit back and enjoy the new machine for the next ten years!
