Steam wand thread size

Postby PeteF on Sat Nov 22, 2008 12:39 am

I've just finished rebuilding a Bezzera BZ-40E and in the process changed the steam wand from the old pivoting version to a ball-joint version. The new wand came with a 3 hole tip to replace the old 4 hole tip, nevertheless If I'm steaming milk just for myself even the 3 hole packs too much punch for such a tiny amount of milk.

I've plugged 2 of the holes with a toothpick but now want a more permanent solution so will machine up some new tips from brass with 1 and 2 holes at various angles. It seems the steam wand thread is not a metric thread so I presume is some type of pipe thread. I think they're relatively universal between many of the manufacturers so am wondering if anyone can advise what type of thread they use so I can get the correct tap.

Cheers,
Pete

My mistake, seems indeed to be metric, just a fine pitch. M10x1.0. Of course not that I would have that tap, but as I order one I'll keep reminding myself the guy who dies with the most tools and/or toys wins!
