That is a good question. I can't say that I am qualified to give a definitive answer, but I will relate what I know.

"Dropping the ball" is in the eye of the beholder. The single groups is a new product, and it's clear that they are working out a reasonable firmware update path. I am surprised how long this has taken them to do, but I believe it is because they are trying to complete a more elegant/efficient firmware upgrade path than replacing the board-and I imagine they are also struggling with very high demand and insufficient staff. So, I am fine to wait. I would guess that if I wanted to make a stink about it and ask for a new board, I could get one-but I don't see the point. As I said in my last post, the machine makes great espresso. It's true that a lot of the data gathering that I want to do for the review is delayed, but I think we're all going to make it out alive.

Regarding their customer service with real problems-my pressure transducer failed a few weeks ago, causing the system to shut the steam boiler off. I contacted them the evening that I found the problem, and they quickly diagnosed the issue, and the next morning overnighted me the replacement, along with illustrated instructions for installing the replacement, which they sent with an extension tube to thermally isolate it and reduce the chance of another failure. It was easy to install with a pair of wrenches, and everything was back together very quickly. I've also heard privately from a couple of other buyers who've had problems, and it seems that Slayer has handled their issues with courtesy and haste-and they don't seem to be shy about covering exorbitant expedited shipping fees to get parts to you as soon as possible.

That's good to hear as that's the exactly the kind of customer service I'd expect when you buy a machine in this price range. I still find it odd that they would drag out the resolution of your temp problem so long when they could just send out a board & get the review back on track. Wasn't this an issue that only affected a few early machines?

I am! It has been running flawlessly and brewing the best coffee I have ever had. I have a whole new love for light roasts but it makes Blends delicious as well.

I'm still using mine and having excellent results while my temp display dances madly tween about 195 and 205. I am told that folks who got theirs with updated boards do not have this going on. I keep waiting for my new board but it seems always to be just out of reach.

Been checking this thread every weeks, for 4 months, in hope of any updates. Nothing.

Not yet. Any day now (they say). I am getting sick and tired of being jerked around.
