Silvia - small leak into drip tray

Postby sotavento on Mon Jan 22, 2007 6:03 pm

Hi,
I'm a new Rancilio Silvia owner. I've noticed that after brewing there is small amount of clear water in the drip tray. I'm sure it doesn't come from around the receptacle, so it must come from inside. It's not a large amount, so I'm not so concerned about the amount, but rather that there may be an unexpected leak inside, leading to other problems later.

Is this normal?

Thanks

Yes, this is normal, although it won't always be clear water. Silvia has a 3-way solenoid valve that opens when you finish brewing a shot. This releases the pressure on top of the coffee puck and this water is directed to the drip tray.
