I have a question related to rotary pumps. I need a new pump for my machine and I have a found a cheap Procon pump with 300 l/h capacity. Is this pump too strong or can I use it on a Brasilia Portofino 2group?

Thanks in advance

That would NOT be a good idea because the existing motor may not be appropriately sized. Why not simply have your existing pump rebuilt/tested/guaranteed by the "local" Procon center?

"Cheap" may sound good but a few months done the road it may become expensive.

I dont have a Procon center where I live unfortunately. How can I check if my motor is appropriately sized?

So which kind of pump do I need? Around 150l/h? Will they all fit if the socket is the same?
Im looking at different pumps here espressoxxl.de. They have two different that Ive been looking at, its either NPT or GAS connection. Im not sure which will fit. Do you know?

Your existing pump has a model number on it. Your motor has nameplate data and Procon has a pretty informative website - http://www.proconpumps.com/ .

If this data is missing or unreadable, I would call Brasilia. Typical thread size for espresso machine application is 3/8-G.

The rebuild center for Sweden is:

Elmegards Alle 15

Additional info here but not specifically pump flow rates: http://www.brasilia-coffee.co.uk/downlo ... manual.pdf

Check out

cafeparts.com
astramgroup.com

They have a lot of generic pumps. May be a bit pricey but your talking about the heart of the machine. Once replaced you will get years if not decades of use.

Ok. thanks for the info. Ill will just try with a rotoflow or procon pump that has 100l/h capacity. It should be enough for two groups right?

You can try yes. As long as your getting 7-9 bars per group or you can pull shots in 35-30 seconds if you don't got a gauge. I usually just replace with exact replacements.
