Hello there, please excuse me for reviving this thread but i am curious.

My Rocket has always made a buzzing noise when refilling the boiler. I assumed this was "normal". I've been reading about cavitation but since mine is tank fed, i didn't think it was a valid explanation. I'm just curious about this check valve explanation. Any update on it actually being the culprit in this case?

thanks,

While filling?
The fill solenoid is likely the source of the buzz. Perfectly normal. You may be able to tighten the fit of the coil to keep it from vibrating.

Meh... as long as it's ok and is not something that can cause abnormal wear and tear, i am inclined to leave it alone. Let the solenoid buzz, i'll use the time to work on my flush routine. Thanks for the reply.

Since plumbing my Rocket it has the same problem, it makes a buzzing noise when refilling the boiler.
Operating the machine in tank mode, it's perfectly quiet.

Are there any news in solving this problem?

Im especially interested if eeffoc received a solution and manual from Rocket how to fix it?

Thanks in advance,

What's the incoming water pressure? The only thing I can think of that might be different between tank and plumb; you might try to regulate it down some. Either that or it could be an oscillation set up by the water being under pressure, or the solenoid just operates differently with forward pressure.

If you go back to tank, does the problem go away? If not, then the problem is elsewhere. Maybe you jostled something when you did the switchover?
