Rocket Cellini Grouphead Temperature

Postby javacrazed on Fri Aug 06, 2010 3:50 pm

Another question for the group, and thanks for all your wisdom. OK, so I have a plumbed in Cellini and have been reading about proper extraction temperature. I purchased a Taylor instant read thermometer and waited about an hour to read the water coming out of the group head. Without doing a preflush it read approx. 188-191F. Boiler was 1 to 1.2 bars. I really don't know how accurate this reading is but wanted to get your take on it and if i should have any concerns. Shots are very hot when they come out and taste good. (My Technique needs to improve and get more consistent). Any thoughts?

Really, so without pre flushing for 5 -10 seconds proper temp should be around 178-180F? Do you think I need an adapter or would a flush do the trick??

You will need to flush with a boiler @ about 1bar.

If you run the group into a styrofoam cup after flushing the water should be about 180° to 184°F.
Brew water temperature will be about 200°F.

Eric's adapter makes flushing easy.
