Replacing intake with water softener filter in Bezzera

Postby seve1 on Thu Mar 18, 2010 7:30 pm

I just purchased a BezSoftKit for my BezerraBZ02S and I'm not sure how to install it. Did not come with instructions. I believe I have to remove the small red filter at the bottom of reservoir, but not sure about the hose connection. the BZ02S has a long skinny hose that I don't think gets connected to the filter. Any help is appreciated. Steve

Remove the red filter thingy.
Use pliers to grab the round piece outside the tank
use a wrench or something similar to unscrew the piece inside the tank
Unscrew everything, you'll have a tank with a hole in it.

Put the round piece from the outside of the tank back where it was. Use the new fitting from the bezsoftkit on the inside of the tank.

You don't need to put the ball and spring back in.

Tighten it up, slip the rubber hose onto the new male fitting on the bottom of the tank. Slip the other end onto the water softener.

If you loop the hose so it sticks up out of the water, and arcs back in, you can lift the tank off without fear of water dripping everywhere.

Hope this helps.

Thanks and btw, do I just let the long thin tube sit in the water? The manual with the Bezzera is not very detailed!!

yep. it should stick straight up, arc right up to the surface of the water and then arc right back down to the water softener, which should be sitting in the bottom of the tank.

When the pump kicks, the water is pulled through the large screen side of the softener.
It goes through the resin, deposits the calcium and magnesium, flows out into the rubber tube, then into the brass fitting and into the machine.

Because the tube is long and arcs upward, it prevents the water pressure from forcing water out of the bottom when you remove it from the machine.
