Cleaning the Boiler - protecting the metal - minimize exposure to mild acid solutions
Cleaning any metal container with an acid solution has some risks. Mild acids are particularly good at removing scale, however, they are very hard on the metal. An inhibited acid will work with brass or iron/steel, but not with stainless steel. A mild acid is particularly hard on stainless steel, where as a concentrated acid will for a protective scale. Bottom line de-scale metal boilers regularly with short duration exposure to mild acid, as recommended by the equipment manufacture. One or two heavy duty room temperature de-scalings may not destroy your boiler, but will not be in the best interest if you are interested in the long term use of the machine.
