I wonder if that is just a result of mixed lighting..? But look at the tan wire that crosses over the heating element's terminal. That looks fairly close and should be routed away from there (maybe up and over). That is the sort of thing to look for. With the machine unplugged, run your hand down all the wires you can and feel for any damage to the insulation.
