With another brand of milk, all now is....PERFECT.

I Like the Silvano v1.

After almost a year and a half of experimenting with espresso, I decided I like it well enough to commit to a new machine. Not counting a steam toy Krups that someone gave me two Christmas' ago, my first machine was a Krups 964 Novo purchased at the local thrift store. This was replaced in the rotation by a Krups XP4030 and several months later by my Gaggia Coffee.

Each step along the journey was fun. Last week I was able to exchange my ebeans on ROASTe for a machine I watched since it was first introduced - the Quick Mill by Silvano.

One day in is not enough time to evaluate but I like what I see. I did not expect it to be so much larger than the Coffee but it is heavier, taller and wider but not so large I couldn't find a place for it.

I know better than to never say never, but I could see myself happily using this machine for a long time to come. :D

Thinking of upgrading the folks' current machine with the Silvano. I have an extra brand new bottomless portafilter that fits e-61 machines that I would like to send along with it, but don't know if it will fit or not? Anyone know? :?:

I think the Silvano and the Rancilio Silvia use the same portafilter - the NS Oscar and Gaggia portafilters do not work with the Silvano. Maybe send it - if it fits then good, if not, then it waits you to pick up on your next visit.

My understanding is that the Silvano uses the same PF as most e-61 machines, which is also basically the same as the Silvia PF. So most standard e-61 PF's should fit fine. If you want to be sure, give Chris a call or send an email to him.
