Question: Proper Water Probe Depth (Euro 2000/Isomac boiler)

Hi everyone,

I did a search but couldn't find any information. I own a Maver Junior, which is based on the Euro 2000, which uses the same boiler as the Isomac Tea/Milleniums (generation 1 at least).

After resolving some issues with leaks, and resealing some of the threads, descaling, etc... I noticed my boiler auto-fill probe was completely pushed in. I couldn't for the life of me remember how deep it was supposed to be in the machine. I must have accidently pushed it in all the way when shorting the probe (tricking the machine into filling the boiler with my citric acid solution).

Does anyone know how deep the probe should be in these boilers? Does it matter? I found if the probe was all the way in, it was not working properly (either it was touching the HX or too close to it). I tried searching for a specificiation online, but nada.

I'm guessing the probe has to be a bit higher than the HX (and heating element), so that they are beneath water at all times within boiler. Does this logic seem correct? If that's the only requirement, then any small differences in depth at that point would probably just affect how wet or dry the steam would be for frothing.

I used to know the answer, but I've been unable to track down the posts or emails. IIRC, there should be about 1/2 centimeter of probe showing between the plastic collar on the boiler and the plastic terminal strip.

The heat exchanger is slightly sloped, it is submerged at one end, and slightly protruding at the other.

Thanks Jim. I ended up playing around with different heights, and my cooling flushes seem to be back to their usual times.
