the 'new expobar' only matches in visuals.

note that the 'old expobar' has 2 female fittings for the water pump path ( the left and right on the top)

the 'new expobar' has a female and a male.

the one from chris coffee has 2 males.

in other words: you're going to need to do some adjustments no matter what.

the one on the right, which chris carries, is also known to be better quality (read the opv pdf from the link above)

also given the fact that mfgs cut corners and uses crappier stuff to begin with, going with their stock part is, IMHO, a big mistake.

The new expobar will fit with no adjustments, in fact removing all adaptors is what is needed and allows the fitting to fit "natively". The Chris Coffee OPV is the same one that fits in the Vivi and Andreja Premium and is a very good OPV. "xlp is quite correct in saying that you will need an adaptor one end to make it fit. I know for a fact that it WILL fit in the Expobar in terms of it's space requirements, as this OPV has already been retrofitted to an expobar in the UK as part of testing.

The replacement "new expobar" OPV is fine though, no problems with it so far and it does seem quite adjustable, it's also the easiest fix, with no mucking about.

ok great thanks.

seems like i would need the opposite of what the adaptor is doing now.

now its making 2 female ends connect. with the other OPV i will need to adapt 2 male ends to connect, yes?

well the main issue i have so far with the "new expobar" OPV, is that i cant find one. it would be my first choice if i could.

thanks.

If you really want one, the "new" Expobar OPV should be available from your friends at WLL. :)

Or, from other Expobar parts sources. :)

I wouldn't NECESSARILY jump to the conclusion that the "new" Expobar OPV is better than the "old" one. The old one was (at least) fitted to all of the Brewtus machines and, obviously others. It was sourced from Fluid-O-Tech whereas the new one MAY be mfg in-house.

from the internal pics on the PDF above i dont see how it could be any worse. eliminating the plastic part seems like a good thing. i think it would be better than the "old" one. in the sense that the brass fitting would probably work better than plastic. and that little ball? that seems like a problem area.

im not sayin i want to adjust this everyday and mess with it but it would be nice to know that an adjustment wouldnt destroy the OPV. i think it would destroy the one thats in there now (the "old" expobar). i would also like the comfort of knowing that is not going to fail at any random time.

the "new expobar" would be "easier" to fit but not as good quality as the "vivi", yes?

using the needed adaptor on the vivi would be worth the extra 30 seconds to get a nicer vavle, correct?

thanks.

it would probably take less time than 30s to install the adapter for the other OPV

i really can't imagine why you would go through the measures of swapping out the OPV and not going for the better product.

i liken it to this: when i bought my last laptop, i could have gotten it with an extra 512mb of memory for $150 more from the mfg. i wanted the memory, but that price was ridiculous. so i went online and got a faster memory chip of the same size , with a longer warranty for... $30 including shipping. yeah, i had to pop it in myself, but 1 minute of labor got me a better product for $120 less.

personally, I don't see a need to swap my OPV just yet -- i just want to be prepared for pump failure ( looking at my expobar , i fear how they got the fluid-o-tech attaached to the ulka. every vendor i've spoken to said that is impossible, as no one carries fittings (even expobar dealers) - and i see what looks like resin or solder lines on the joints on mine )
