Putting a Bezzera BZ07 on a timer

Postby Jalopez on Fri Dec 25, 2009 10:09 pm

Hi,
I just became the happy new owner of a Bezzera BZ07 and I'd like to put it on a timer so that it can be ready to roll when I wake up in the morning. Are there any special precautions I need to do take in order to do this properly? What timer would you suggest I use?

Thanks and happy holidays.

The only precautions I can think of are assuring the reservoir is full of water, the portafilter locked in, steam/water valve closed, and the brew switch is off.

As for timer suggestions, this thread is a bit dated, but still valid. Also see The risk of using a timer for a reminder of what can go wrong. That is, timer usage is not without some small risk should forgetfulness strike, even if the machine is equipped for 24/7 operation.

put a surge protector b/w the timer and the machine, just in case the timer throws surges down the line.

My wife bought one for me for the holidays as well. Its having a problem popping GFIs that we're trying to diagnose. Would you mind telling me if the green light (top LED) on your machine is on all the time the power switch is on or just when the heaters kick on?

Thanks,
Mike :?

It's not a matter of site policy, but I am not a fan of "owner's threads". They tend towards a long-winded rambling collection of miscellaneous tips that are search unfriendly, resulting in more repetition because visitors cannot find answers to their questions. For this reason, I recommend subject-specific threads rather than equipment-specific threads.

understood.

a good example of this for me, is the Vario thread. 40+ pages made if very difficult for me to sort out.

Mike,
The top light appears to be on at all times. Hope this helps.
