Recently updated my espresso machine. Now that I'm all plumbed in, there is no coming back! So much more user-friendly not to have to fill-up and empty out water from machine!

Got the Guatemala a few days ago, new in box for a price I couldn't resist (more than 50% off). Space got a little tighter now, but so is the particle distribution of the Guat so I'm OK with that

Very nice brace of grinders! And the ECM speaks for itself :-) Nice setup.

Which grinder do you like best??

Yes it does. It says:"Hello there. I am shiny! Covet me."

The Guat is great so far for Kalita Wave and Aeropress. Different than the OE LIDO2 which I have been enjoying for three years now. Tired of hand grinding tho'. Especially for more than two cups. I have the first more aggressive burr design.

I hope the Guat can do espresso further down the line, but I calibrated the zero setting and even with a hard tamp, lowest pressure possible on ECM and finest setting on Guat it gushed through, a 1:3 ratio came through in 15 seconds. I'm using light scandinavia styled beans.

Maybe after the burrs are seasoned and I do the EK Barista Hustle calibration with whiteboard marker and aluminum foil it can do espresso. I have seen vids of people pulling shots with it.

I'm pretty satisfied with the shots from the Super Jolly/ECM (about two years with this combo). With fresh beans and VST baskets, sometimes it's super sweet and yummy, but a single dosing grinder would suit me much better for that one espresso a day (and often a flat white for wifey). 500g gets too old before we're through it all, even when filling a 250g bag a time from same roast batch. And when one 250g bag gets near the throat without refill on top the grinds are not as good anymore. If I was drinking milk drinks myself wouldn't matter as much I guess, but I'm intolerant and like it straight.

If the Guat never bring me great espresso maybe I'll take the plunge and finally get an EK43 and rid of both grinders. Hey maybe something new comes along and every café in town will sell theirs? I have not seen a single one second hand here in Norway. But it's still way more than what I'll get for these, and the lady thinks this is already a lot invested in coffee. Nothing compared to my music studio, but I do get some work in there at least.

Yes, the monolith has been great for pour overs and espresso. Very consistent, repeatable, and QUIET :).

Here is my humble home setup. VBM Super HX and Mazzer Lux. Yet, I am saving money for Kafatek to upgrade my grinder.
