I haven't really been able to do any comparative tests between the two yet. I did compare my current grind setting on the Mythos to the finest grind setting on the Sette and it's a HUGE difference. The Sette doesn't quite grind fine enough for a Slayer, it's most likely perfect for any other espresso machine. I didn't buy the Sette for espresso anyways, so it doesn't bother me. I bought it specifically for pourover on my V60, my preferred method. I've only been able to try it once so far with Cat and Cloud's "Answer" blend and it was delicious! I did a quick comparison of the particle size between the Sette and the EK43, and it did produce more boulders and fines than the EK. I'm not surprised with any of the results because these are two of the best grinders on the market right now and 8-10x the price of the Sette. I am impressed with the speed of the grinding and how very little grind retention there is! I am single dosing with this grinder, and have noticed 0.1 - 0.2g of retention at most. No tapping or use of any brushes, etc..this is what's coming out straight from the burrs. I will try to do more tests with the Sette, I'm sure a lot of people are awaiting real world feedback.

I had a very brief opportunity to play with the Sette, it grinds ridiculously fast. It is also loud; I didn't have the two side by side but I got the impression it is much louder than my Vario ever was. As far as grind retention though we had different experiences. You seemed to have to give the adjustment ring cone a big of a thwack to get the last few grams to fall.

My Super Jolly and modded Gaggia. Gaggia has the copper preheat, PID, adjustable OPV and pressure gauge. Thanks to the vast amounts of info on HB to help me out.

I actually never tap or use a brush to get the retained grounds from the grinder. This is why I dose slightly higher, to compensate for grind retention. For brewed coffee, I dose 25g, and 350g water 1:14 ratio. I just posted a short video on YouTube to show that I get very little grind retention, I did not go back to continue grinding, tap, brush, etc. If you take a close look, you'll see there's still some grounds at the bottom of the adjustment ring. This does not bother me a single bit, it's by far one of the best brew grinders I've ever used. I've used EK43's and Dittings, you lose way more than 0.1g from the bag clamp/knocker, and static.

We built a new kitchen and my wife thought it would be a good idea to have a separate area for my espresso gear, so I took her at her word!
