Yep, good camera gear and good espresso gear = Visa on life support, a big smile on your face and a wife that is accustomed to shaking her head. Enjoy the ride. I am in the process of mustering up the heuvos to get a Monolith Flat to add to the evolving wall of stuff.bettysnephew wrote:Both of those hobbies + ham radio! So here we go...
This was my first setup... bought and setup for my wife in December
We were amazed how easy it was to make great espresso at home. This was a huge step up from using a Moka, or Nespresso. 20 years ago I had a Pavoni, but could never get good espresso from it... back then I bought pre-ground coffee and it was prolly way over roasted and old.
After a few weeks of use, we realized if we were going to do this, we would want a machine we could plumb in, 'cause of course whenever I was making 4 or 5 espressi / or cappa's for guests it would run out of water... never when I was just making myself a shot! Also we realized would much prefer a quieter pump and since we did not have room next to our sink, and I felt it ideally needed to be situated next to one, I decided to build a Coffee Bar in our house.
Working with Ben was great and he made it very easy to upgrade... never any pressure at all, and I put a M58 on order. While waiting I used one of these...
It was a step backwards... but better than expected. Just couldn't get nearly the same intensity no matter how I ground and tamped.
It did hold us for awhile.... until my M58 came.
Next up, New Grinder... one is coming .... Will post when its here.
Thanks to all of you who shared their setups , advise, passion and knowledge.

First foray into better coffee #1. Chemex, w/Spong(not in photo).
Setup #2. Rancilio Silvia and a Rocky.
Here is setup #3. GS/3 MP and Londinium L-I using HG-1
This is setup #4. Sold GS/3 Kept L-1, Terranova Versalab and HG-1 motorized
Setup #5. Motorized HG-1, Ceado E37s and Londinium L1-p
There was a different machine, between 2 & 3, that I liked but had troubles with in the first month so I returned it for a refund. (R58 Rocket)
