Post a pic of your home espresso setup... - Page 49

Thanks! The most traumatic part was the downgrade to the French Press when my old machine left! I think its going to take me a while to come to grips with it, particularly with steaming. A 3.5 litre steam boiler sitting at 1.5 bar... now I can begin to imagine what people have talked about when they have moved onto an Elektra Sixties with its 6 litres of puff.

I'm in the same boat with the steam boiler on the GS3. Does the Speedster come with a no burn wand?

Oh, and I love those red/black panels.

The panels were a special request, they are actually my home town colours and I thought it might work nicely. Its fitted with "Burn you" steam/hot water wands. I asked Kees if "No Burn" wands were available and he had heard LM and ECM had some troubles with them and as such not using them. My previous ECM had them, and I thought they were fantastic. I am sure I will learn after a few painful mistakes that I must move the wand by the rubber finger grip!

Got a Vivaldi V1 and a conical Casadio, both used, for a good price. No need to upgrade now for quite some time.

A pointer, do not put a towel over the top of your machine. When it is powered up and hot, cool air is drawn in through the vents in the bottom of the machine as the hot air rises out the top. Put a towel over the cup warmer and you stall that convection. You will overheat your electronics and could have a meltdown.

Wow. That's the exact grinder I have. In Taiwan it's manufactured by Yang Chia (Jia as in 'family'). Mine is badged as a Feima 600N. I use it for AeroPress and French press grinding. How do you like it for espresso?

On another point, my wife is originally from Hunan.

"Feima" as in stark contrast to Faema, or was that a typo?

So far, I am still settling in with the machine. The temperature control needs to be replaced, as the deadband on the Sirai has gotten to about 0.4 bar; I have an SSR and a PID, still waiting for a TC and an adapter fitting. In the mean time, the shots are well consistent enough to get repeatability and noticeable manipulation of the taste profile. I am still working on actually coaxing the profile I want out, but so far the clarity is noticeably improved over my E61. The acidity at its best is rather pleasant, noticeably higher than the E61 with the beans I am using.

Wow!!! Nicholas that is Great! A T1! Well Ihave been on vacation for a couple of weeks and since I got back from Seattle I have been spending money like a drunken sailor... Pics to follow when I am done.
