Pink residue after citric soaking

Postby Bryce on Sun Jan 15, 2012 7:30 pm

After soaking my brass and copper pieces I get a pink residue on the metal, which easily comes off with a wipe/ sand. How do I get this off the inside of the pipes so that it doesnt dislodge when I put the machine back together?

That is just the brass in the copper coming out. It essentially copper plated the brass while it was soaking in the acid. Some of the brass leaches out during the soak. It is normal and nothing to worry about.
