Pasquini Livia Over Pressured and Tripping the Pressure Relief.

Postby Braven36 on Sat Oct 31, 2009 3:02 pm

My Pasquini livia 90, out of no where it blew stream out of some where inside the case which I assume is the pressure relief valve. So after the pressure relief blew and then shut. I looked at the gauge it was 1/2 way in the red. (What I mean by halfway is where the red start and end the arrow was in the middle.)

I have made no modification or adjustment to the machine since I have it.

What I have tried so far. I let the machine cool down and then ran the pump until the water was cold at group the head. Basically attempt to reset the temp think that it may been a fluke. So then I watch the pressure gauge , it climb back in red.

My Question is where should I start in troubleshooting the issue.

So I need to replace the pressure switch to start with. That link you gave me is that valve I need.

Searching on sticky pressurestat will lead you to threads describing the same problem. Presumably the pressurestat contacts have welded themselves together, so the heating element is never turned off. I don't know precisely which pressurestat yours has, but the MA-TER and CEME pressurestats are the most common (Sirai is common in commercial units). It's an easily replaceable part; remember to unplug the machine!

Thanks for search phrase. Did not know how to the phrase it. Looking at Ceme pressurestat image you linked in your post, it a perfect match all the way down to the yellow glue. Any place you would recommend to get the part?

I think that 'yellow glue' is rust where water has been leaking past the pressure membrane and gotten on with the metal. 8)

This is a common part and a regularly failed item. Call or email Chris Coffee or Stefano at EspressoCare (links below).

That is part I though it was. I email eChris's and got response. Thanks for everyones help. Off subject where can hot water tap like on the machine in the picture. My machine has very short one and it takes a very special technique not to burn your hand with the steam coming off the water.
