I have an old Olympia Coffex which I understand is the same as the Maximatic. There is a steam leak thru the steam wand and I think it just needs a new gasket but I can't figure out how to remove the steam valve knob. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Pop off the white (or red) plastic cap on the knob and the screw is in behind.

Thanks wildbwilson. The red cap didn't look like it would come off but I didn't try very hard. I'll try again.

Steven,
Just in case you're still working on removing the knob, Doug at Orphan Espresso told me to push in on one outer edge of the insert inside the knob. With a fair amount of force (I did it with my thumb which was a bit sore afterward!), the inserts on my Olympia Caffarex pushed in on the edge I pushed allowing me to pull them out from the other edge... Hope that makes sense, and helps.
Also, Orphan is a great place to get (besides advice!) replacement gaskets, seals, washers, etc. for many machines - especially Olympia.
