Old reneka machine single group with leak

Postby paul6458 on Sat Jul 04, 2009 12:41 am

I have an old reneka single group. It is working fine but there is too much draining water at the bottom of the machine. It drains/drips at least 5 gallons of water per day. How can I fix this? Please help.

The first step is finding out where the water is leaking from. If you don't feel qualified to do this work yourself, find a repair technician (e.g., by shipping it to a repair center or asking a local cafe owner who they use).

thank HB.
There is no water leaking. The draining water coming out the draining hose (which normally goes directly to the sink) is too much. There much be some kind of valve which can be regulated.
Thanks again.

It's still not clear where the water is coming from. What model is it? When you say the hose going to the sink, I assume you mean one coming from the drip tray. If you take the drip tray off, there's probably a junction below it that joins the drip tray drain to the line from the three-way solenoid, so that would be the first thing to check.

You can probably get parts and a manual for this machine from Mike Johnson at Boyd's in Portland. They're the US Reneka importer and have been very helpful to me over the years. They can also repair the machine for you or suggest a local shop if you decide it's beyond what you want to tackle.

Best,

My best guess based on the little information you've provided is that the expansion valve is leaking, although I can't imagine it passing 5 gallons of water per day. I suggest taking it to a qualified repair technician.

I know this response is WAY late. should the op not have checked I am guessing this leak could be from the 3-way valve. triggering the pump on and off may effect the flow rate on your leak. Remove the stainless tray so you can get a look at the 3x4 black plastic tray below. You may see a slow stream from the back of the black plastic tray. There may also be a slow to fast drip from your group head. You could take apart the 3-way and clean for a temp fix. It is most likely the seals on the 3-way however and the fix is only temp. The cost to replace the 3-way is about $150. Everything on a Reneka starts at $150.

Sorry if I,m too late on this one.
