Old Gaggia with steam wand on left hand side?

Postby workinghard on Sun Feb 07, 2010 3:12 pm

Hey, I am looking at this Gaggia which appears to be a Classic with the steam wand on the other side+

Any thoughts? Anyone have info on changes in the model, or in what this model may be if not what I think?

The tube on the left hand side that you're seeing isn't the steam wand...I'm pretty sure it's the outlet for the 3-way solenoid. If I had a guess, the steam wand is tucked under where you can't see it in the picture, but it's on the right hand side, below the steam knob.

you have every reason to be excited...the gaggia classic is a great machine. I've got a baby, which is basically a classic in a plastic housing. I highly highly recommend joining the gaggia group on yahoo: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Gaggia/

I also highly recommend installing a PID on your machine, installing a Rancilio Silvia steam wand, and adjusting the OPV for optimum pressure, instructions for all of which can be found in past posts if you do a search in the group.

Best of luck!
