NYC finding tampers here, and recommendations for tampers

Postby EspressoGirl on Mon Oct 13, 2008 5:00 pm

(THIS IS ALSO POSTED ON COFFEEGEEK.COM)

I have a Gaggia Classic with 58mm basket and want to buy a metal tamper. i want something pretty basic but that will still do the job well. I prefer steel to aluminum.

Any recommendations on tampers that fit the bill and are modest in price?

Also, does anyone know any place in NYC that sells decent tampers?

Thanks all.

Your best bet would be to talk to one of the online vendors/supporters here. Whole Latte Love is a N.Y. company, albeit not in the city but they do have a varied selection and their sales staff would be very helpful. Also 1st-line and Chris' Coffee.

For example : http://www.wholelattelove.com/tampers.cfm

Alphabetically . . .

1st-Line

Chris' Coffee Service -- scroll down to see the tampers. (They don't have a separate section, per se, but are in with "Accessories.")

Espresso Parts NW -- they have a huge selection.
