Nuovo Simonelli Mac 2000 switch problem?

Postby cal on Wed Oct 19, 2011 6:03 pm

Hi All,
Just rebuilt a Nuovo Simonelli Mac 2000 2 group and it's up and "running". Interestingly, from an ice cold start, the machine doesn't always start up. I may have to turn the switch on and off several times before I hear it start to creak and groan. But once the machine is heated up, it virtually always restarts when you flip the switch. Does this sound like a switch problem or maybe a power supply, or something else??
TIA.

If you know how to safely do it: remove the switch and hook it up to a ohm meter. You should have very little resistance between the contacts when they are closed. Even 1 ohm is more than you want to see. Flip it on and off a bunch of times and the meter should tell the story. If it is an illuminated switch make sure you are reading the contacts not the lamp.
