i just bought my musica pour over and I am not able to get extraction time more than 18 seconds. i have played with grinds, dose and tamp. the water just pours through. the water temperature is only 140-160F and pressure is around 1-1.2. Any advice would be appreciated.

I'll guess stale coffee, assuming grinding finer doesn't slow the pour speed. See Espresso newbie help - pour times too fast for other suggestions.
As for the water temperature, you didn't mention how you measured. If your measurements are correct, you're either not allowing enough time to heat up (~25 minutes) or you're flushing too much water. See HX Love for background and Nuova Simonelli Musica HX type for specific recommendations:

I searched on "flush nuova simonelli" to find the above and similar previous discussions.oofnik wrote:If I'm pulling successive shots, I'll blip the pump just to clean the shower screen. But if the machine sits idle for more than 5 minutes then yes I will flush briefly just to clear the steam. Of course, I primarily grind by hand, so successive shots are rare!
I think one develops a feel for these things based on taste given enough time. Every machine has its 'character'; what you will learn from the forums should only be used as a rough guide.

Are you using pre-ground coffee? I'm not really sure what you mean by "played with grinds". As Dan stated, sounds like pre-ground or stale coffee.
