New-to-me Faema Compact S... parts?

Postby AtomicPlayboy on Thu Feb 17, 2011 9:56 pm

So I got this Faema Compact (believe it to be a Compact S, but the builder's plate is a little worn). Previous owner said it worked fine but leaked around the group head (gasket was so old and brittle that the shower screen fell out!)

There are a few things that need to get sorted before I'm ready to give it a smoke test. Boiler pressure gauge needs replacing, but that should be relatively easy - I think I've found a couple of places that have them. Already got a shipment of citric acid, some replacement gaskets, and a new bottomless portafilter. The thing that's giving me a complete headache is trying to find a replacement drip tray - the one I have has died of old age and heat.

Any leads? In the interests of preserving household harmony, I'm reluctant to try to run this thing without the tray in place. Thanks!

A really good start would be the search engine on this site (HB) which would lead to this:

search.php?keywords=Faema+Compact+S&terms=all&author=&t=0&submit=Search&sf=all&sr=posts&sk=t&sd=d&st=0&ch=300

An excellent source for Faema parts is here: http://www.faemasource.com/

I have the same machine but the A model with automatic dosing.
You might have a hard time finding a new drip tray.
The best thing I've found to repair plastic is Plastex, but I have no doubt fiberglass tape & any good epoxy would be fine for something like this that doesn't see much force. If you're missing any pieces, Plastex might be better.
