New Quickmill Andreja user needs advice / tips

Postby Jebez on Sat May 07, 2011 9:56 pm

I just received a new Quickmill Andreja Premium (with the Jaeger pressure stat upgrade) from the wonderful folks at Chris' Coffee, and until I can call them on Monday, I would love to get her up and running. I was hoping those of you who own an Andreja or similar HX type machine, would help guide me.
I'd appreciate hearing your thoughts regarding first time set-up, as well regular daily use. I also purchased Eric's thermometer, but until I can figure out how to install it, I'd really appreciate any advice on cooling flushes to get me started with temp control. For that matter, I'd like to hear your thoughts on installation and your particular use of the Eric's thermometer.
One particular question I have is regarding the 'fill' switch. Other than engaging it for first time set-up (or perhaps after draining the boiler), is it ever used for any other reason?
Please make no assumptions regarding my my knowledge of this type of machine... I've only ever used a DeLonghi EC155. As such, I'd appreciate ANY words of wisdom, tips, advice that anyone would kindly share.
Many thanks in advance!

As regards the installation and operation of the thermometer, there is a file download available on the Chris' Coffee website which is the latest manual: http://www.chriscoffee.com/products/home/espressoaccs/thermometerkit . This 24 page file also contains some useful HB thread links. If there are any questions whatsoever re installation, better to call than have an unfortunate experience.

I am also available up until midnight, EST, 7 days @ 301-587-5033 OR erics at erols dot com - your preference.

Yes.

Although it would take some "digging" and some "thinking" with a host of caveats, there exists a multitude of thread responses here on HB for various machines in which I (and many other responders) have told the original poster to disconnect one of the heating element leads during a troubleshooting phase. This new dual function switch does it electrically rather than mechanically - a little easier.

The thermometer is a piece of cake to install. Even I did it!
