My new Briccoletta has arrived - got everything set up, boiler filled, a couple of seasoning shots, etc. - good to go. I made a couple of nice doubles this morning, when I noticed that there was a very slowly growing puddle of water easing out from under the machine across the counter. Uh oh.

Got the case off, and it seems there is a very slow leak coming from one of the fittings where the pump attaches to the boiler (not sure if it is for the boiler fill, or for the brew path, though I THINK it's the boiler fill).

I really don't want to box this thing back up and ship it all the way back to Chris to have it fixed. It's possible that the fitting just needs to be tightened. Is anything used to seal fittings like this? Teflon tape?

Any thoughts or suggestions?

It's hard to judge from your description the precise source of the leak, but in general Teflon plumber's tape is your best friend when it comes to threaded boiler fittings. If it's a compression fitting, a simple 1/8th turn tighter may be enough. These machines get jostled a lot on their way to your home and a minor drip like that on arrival isn't unusual. Should be a two minute correction.

Except that I think I might have to take the pump motor out in order to get to it with a wrench. Figures. lol

Remember your warranty! Chris is a pretty cool guy. I'm sure that he'd cut you a lot of slack, but it would be awkward if your attempts ended in damaging something major - as unlikely as that might be.

I decided to see if I could get a wrench on it without taking the motor out - it was tight, and an odd angle, but I could. I was able to get maybe a 1/6 turn on it, but that *SEEMS* to have fixed it. I haven't noticed any drops of water since then.

Thanks a ton for all the advice on it!!
