Need help identifying this espresso machine (Junior Espresso Prestige)

Postby garth breaks on Tue Nov 23, 2010 9:09 pm

Hey folks,
Normally I hang out on the lever side of things, but thought perhaps someone here might be able to help me out.
I recently picked up this machine for five bucks from a local thrift shop as it looks like it might be half decent.
The build quality seems solid, it's got some heft, there's two water intakes (leading me to believe it's either a double boiler or it's got a three way solenoid - though I think solenoids route water to the drip tray...) and lastly, the button & steam control layout reminded me of a Rancilio.

Of course, I could be way off and it could very well be pure junk - for five bucks I thought it would be fun to spend a night rebuilding it.
I've checked the whole thing for labels of any sort and can't find anything, nor does "junior espresso prestige" seem to bring up anything online.
I'm a bit stumped, if anyone has any thoughts, I'd love to hear 'em.
Cheers,

-GB

EDIT - I just popped the top off, still no brand name listed anywhere, but it's sporting an Ulka vibe pump and clean wiring throughout...

Hi garth,

This looks a mokita group to me. I have a similar one under mark "Jura". The mokita is a well known group in Europe and is a good machine to start espressi with.

Check the boiler building material because there are brass versions (go for this one) and aluminium versions (avoid those). Ask for under cover pics to check.

Cheers
