Richard,

You could be correct about the gas not being CO2. But what about Nitrous Oxide/laughing gas? It is available in the same form factor and used as a propellent for making whipped cream.

Happy Coffee

I believe you can use either gas.

Stephen, is there a way to use ESE pods?
that would make it really portable.

So, if using ESE, what's the advantage over a Handpresso? Seems like not having to carry any compressed gas would be better.

Am I missing something? Isn't the point of the Mypressi that you can use fresh ground coffee?

The new Handpresso DomoPod allows the use of ground coffee, too. That's why I'm waiting for the shootout. Personally, I'd rather not have to be concerned with getting cartridges on the road.

I'm guessing that we won't know until reputable evaluators get both in hand and give each a try. :D There are lots of "plusses" and "minuses" discussed here, but right now we have only fleeting impressions from a coffee show. I look forward to an eventual side-by-side, in depth, comparison. In the meantime I wonder how useful abstract comparisons are.

Does anyone know if either the Twist or the Handpresso utilize a pressurized filter basket?

From the praise I heard at the show about the Twist (and considering the people I heard it from), I'm sure not.

The new Handpresso DomoPod (ground coffee) model doesn't use a pressurized filter basket, nor does the original AFAIK..
