Then find a 6x6 piece of 1/4" glass,some dark paper, a flashlight, & a dark room. Place each part of the boiler's mating surfaces on the paper over the glass and search for a warped condition on the mating surfaces. I have a used, clean lower half should you be interested. erics at erols dot com .

Thanks for the tip on the glass. I have seen that trick posted elsewhere, but I was hoping to avoid needing to use it. I'll see what I can do to get my hands on a piece of glass and go from there. If I need a new lower half, you may be hearing from me. :)

I actually have a second Silvia (it's a V2) that works, but I want to keep it all together to avoid an expensive mess of parts that won't work.
