Minimum size tubing for Izzo Duetto plumb-in?

I'll be plumbing in a Duetto that I just ordered and was wondering if my 1/4" filter output tubing is going to be an issue with the rotary pump. Is 3/8" preferred?

I have been told that 3/8" is more ideal.

I use. 1/4" works fine.
