Leaving espresso machine while on vacation

I will be going on vacation shortly and as much as I would love to take my machine, lugging 60lbs in the suitcase might slow me down a bit.
Do many of you drain the boiler/water tank and unplug your machine? Not keen on 10 day old water just sitting there. Most likely give it a backflush cleaning too.

Well when I leave for greater than 7 days I switch off my gs/3. Otherwise it's on 24/7. I wouldn't drain it before going.
Luckily the gs/3 has with pump hot water water so I can flush it easily.

No. I've got an HX machine and the water for shots does not come from the boiler, just comes direct from the tank via the HX. So I do not drain the boiler. Would probably rinse and refill the tank.wrz0170 wrote:Do many of you drain the boiler/water tank and unplug your machine?
Might be more of an issue for those with a DB. But even if I had a DB I still wouldn't drain the boiler. I would probably just flush some water through when I got back from vacation.

Ditto.
If your boiler is a few litres, you can easily flush it.
For my DB I run water from the group head (brew boiler) and run the hot water (steam boiler).
