La Pavoni Pub V hot water nozzle is leaking

Postby Jester on Mon Mar 12, 2007 6:34 pm

I just picked up a used La Pavoni Pub V and am really excited about using it. Small problem, the hot water nozzle is leaking (for making tea, hot water drinks, etc.). Is there a gasket or something that needs to be replaced?

Also, does anybody here (from Houston) know of a place that can help me with getting the machine checked out?

Thank you in advance for all who reply!

Jester,

First off, welcome to HB.

You probably need to take some time to rebuild the hot water tap valve. I'm not sure if this is the exact match for your machine, put this will be similar:

A call to site sponsors that carry equipment will get you some help (see the Commerce section of the Resources page). Closer to you, SRE (http://www.srweb.com) is in Arlington... the website is dreadful, but the parts guy is very helpful. He has put me in touch with a few people when neither site sponsors nor he had a part.

Here's a link to Dave Stephens' (cannonfodder) valve rebuild in the Faema Rebuild Project

Your steam/water valves look like this internally, I think. Your leaky gasket is attached to the piece both springs force into the valve body.

This is how mine looked upon disassembly. Worn from years of over-tightening.
I ordered from EspressoParts.com

They had everything I ordered except a big flat washer, I temporally am using an O-ring (see first picture)

bishopthirteen - Thank you for posting that information, that is exactly what I was looking for. I've ordered the parts based on your recommendation, so I hope to be up and running by this weekend!
