La Nuova Era Alexa

Postby SamJes on Thu Sep 29, 2011 6:01 pm

Good afternoon.
Just getting into the home coffee addiction and purchased a gently used La Nuova Era Alexa machine. I realize I did it backwards and should have done the research first.
Looking for thoughts, opinions or tips on this machine.
Thank you for any feedback.

The good news is that this is a good quality E61 machine. The bad news is that you need a very good grinder, coffees and skills or your shots will suck, even if you spend ten times as much on the machine.

So my first and only tip is to buy either a commercial espresso grinder or the Baratza Vario. The very minimum is the Lux, which will make very good quality shots, but is annoying enough that most people outgrow it quickly.
